Water is essential for proper functioning of the human body. The human body comprises of about 60% of water, hence the cells and organs of the body need water for proper functioning.

It’s recommended that we drink about 8 glasses of water in 24 hours. However, this usually varies depending on the environment, weather and the kind of physical activity one is engaged in.

The body also gets water from the type of food we consume. For instance soups, beverages, milk, juice, fruits and vegetables also provide the body with water, but we should still ensure we drink enough water in order to keep the body functioning optimally.

  • Carrying of nutrients and oxygen to cells.
  • Helping in digestion of food.
  • Preventing constipation.
  • Flushing bacteria from the bladder through urine.
